By using TruFriend, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
About TruFriend
TruFriend is a local-first AI companion app. It provides AI-generated chat, voice, memory, check-in, and personalization features. TruFriend is software, not a human friend, therapist, doctor, lawyer, financial advisor, emergency service, or professional service.
AI-generated responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, inappropriate, or unexpected. You are responsible for reviewing and using AI-generated content with your own judgment.
Age eligibility
TruFriend is not directed to children under 13. By using the app, you confirm that you are old enough to agree to these Terms under the laws that apply to you.
Acceptable use
Do not use TruFriend for emergencies. If you believe you or someone else may be in danger, contact local emergency services or an appropriate crisis resource.
Do not use TruFriend to impersonate others, deceive people, harass anyone, create illegal content, violate another person’s rights, or rely on the app for medical, legal, financial, emergency, or other professional decisions.
You are responsible for the content you enter into TruFriend and for any content you export, copy, share, or use outside the app.
Friend Circle and app features
TruFriend offers an optional subscription called Friend Circle through Google Play Billing. Friend Circle may unlock multiple friends, the full voice catalog, expanded memory, optional current-information access, backup export, and additional check-in controls. Google Play displays the price, billing period, and applicable taxes before purchase. Friend Circle may be offered using monthly or yearly billing periods. An auto-renewing subscription continues until canceled.
You can manage or cancel your subscription through Google Play. Canceling prevents future renewal charges, and access normally continues through the paid billing period. Refunds are handled under Google Play policies and applicable law. TruFriend does not directly receive or store your full payment-card information. Manage subscriptions in Google Play.
TruFriend may add, modify, or discontinue features. Material changes affecting paid features will be communicated when required by applicable law or Google Play policy. The app may require local AI files, device storage, microphone permission, notification permission, internet access for selected features, or compatible Android device capabilities.
Security, backups, and intellectual property
You are responsible for maintaining your own device security and for remembering the password for any encrypted backup you create. TruFriend cannot recover a lost backup password.
TruFriend and its app, website, branding, design, and original content are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Open-source libraries and AI model components may be governed by their own licenses and notices inside the app.
Suspension and termination
TruFriend may restrict or terminate access when reasonably necessary to address a material violation of these Terms, unlawful use, abuse, security concerns, or legal requirements.
Severability
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining sections will remain in effect to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Warranty and liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, TruFriend is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind. TruFriend does not guarantee that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, secure, or suitable for any particular purpose.
To the maximum extent allowed by law, TruFriend and its developer are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for losses arising from your use of or inability to use the app.
